SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Patrick Coughlin has been named coordinator of the POWER Basketball Academy at the Sanford Pentagon.
Coughlin, a Brookings native, played basketball at the University of Sioux Falls and graduated in 2013. He has been an assistant with the POWER Basketball Academy since 2014 and worked with thousands of young athletes during that time.
“Patrick’s basketball experience and knowledge of the game along with the relationships he’s built with athletes, coaches and parents make him the perfect fit for this position,” said Kevin Lampe, executive vice president of Sanford Sports. “I have the utmost confidence in Pat that he will build upon the academy’s reputation as the premier academy in the area.”
The POWER Basketball Academy is a comprehensive player development program with a wide variety of basketball development options. From private workouts to team management and everything in between, the professional staff is knowledgeable, energetic, and creates a positive environment for players of all ages and skill levels to develop, learn, and enjoy the game of basketball.
“The Pentagon Basketball Academy is a special place to improve your skills on the court, and I am excited to lead this program.” said Coughlin. “We have an outstanding group of coaches on staff, and I am excited to continue helping players reach their goals.”
Former NBA guard and All-American at Kansas, Kirk Hinrich, serves as the lead academy specialist. The academy is also supported by more than a dozen coaches and is active in adding the best local and regional basketball coaches available.
“I have been very impressed with Pat’s ability to not only conduct workouts, but also connect with all the athletes and coaches at the academy,” said Hinrich. “He’s got my full support, and I know he’s going to do a great job in his new role.”
