SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Northern State picked up its second win in as many days at the Sanford Pentagon Basketball Classic, defeating New York Institute of Technology 79-51. Missouri Southern State picked up a win Sunday narrowly getting by Wayne State 79-77 thanks to a game-winning layup with one second left.
Northern State (6-1) got a strong performance from DJ Pollard who finished the night with 16 points, five rebounds and six assists. Pollard was one of three Wolves who scored in double figures for the night. Ian Smith had 12 points and Bo Fries chipped in 10. Yao Szu Sun recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds for NYIT (2-3).
Kinzer Lambert netted 22 points to go along with nine rebounds for Missouri Southern State (2-3). The Lions also got 19 points and seven rebounds from Elyjah Clark. Braelon Walker finished with nine points including the winning basket. Wayne State (4-2) had four players reach double figures in scoring, led by Kendall Jacks who poured in 23 points.
