SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Highlighted by 12 total dates at the Sanford Pentagon, Augustana men's basketball head coach Tom Billeter and women’s basketball head coach Dave Krauth announced their respective schedules Tuesday.
Following an exhibition with Cornell (IA) at the Elmen Center on Oct. 27, Viking men’s basketball will hit Sanford Pentagon and Heritage Court for the first time on Nov. 1. The exhibition tipoff vs. Concordia Moorhead is set to start at 7 p.m.
Augustana once again starts the NSIC slate with a matchup against travel partner Wayne State, however this year the Vikings and Wildcats will open conference play in Wayne, Neb. on Saturday, Nov. 30. Augustana returns for the first of 11 conference men’s and women’s doubleheaders Friday, Dec. 6 at the Sanford Pentagon vs. Winona State. The Vikings close the weekend with Upper Iowa on Saturday afternoon.
Following a pair of road doubleheaders in Crookston and Bemidji, Minnesota, the Vikings close out the 2019 calendar taking on Wayne State on Dec. 21 at the Sanford Pentagon. The Vikings open up 2020 with two more home slates, first taking on SMSU on Friday, Jan. 3, and hosting cross-town rival USF on Saturday, Jan. 4.
Two weeks later, the Vikings bring another in-state matchup to the Sanford Pentagon, taking on Northern State on Friday, Jan. 17. The Vikings close the weekend with MSU Moorhead on Saturday afternoon.
The final four doubleheaders of the regular season see Augustana hosting Minot State (Jan. 31), U-Mary (Feb. 1), Minnesota State (Feb. 14) and Concordia St-Paul (Feb. 15), all at the Sanford Pentagon.
Augustana ends the regular season with road contests at USF (Feb. 21) and SMSU (Feb. 22). The NSIC postseason opening-round action starts on Wednesday, Feb. 26, with the top-eight seeds hosting games before returning to the Sanford Pentagon for the NSIC Tournament Feb. 29 through Mar. 3.
Augustana men’s basketball opens the season on the road in Warrensburg, Missouri for a pair of games against MIAA foes Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Central Missouri on Sunday, Nov. 10. For the second-straight season, Augustana will square up in the East vs. West Challenge. Hosted by Black Hills State, Augustana takes on the Yellow Jackets Friday, Nov. 15, before taking on the South Dakota School of Mines the following day. Before entering conference play, the Vikings return home to the Elmen Center, welcoming in Buena Vista (IA) on November 21, and taking on Nebraska Christian College November 25.
Augustana women’s basketball starts their 26-game slate on Saturday, Nov. 16 against Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri. Following their road trip, Augustana returns home for three games at the Elmen Center against Midland University (Nov. 19), Mount Marty College (Nov. 22) and Bellevue University (Nov. 25). The Vikings will face three teams that made the NCAA Division II Tournament last season in Truman State, Minnesota Duluth and MSU Moorhead.
