Sanford Sports Complex Summer Games to debut Aug. 4

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sanford Sports Complex is creating a new summer event aimed at bringing people together for outdoor fun featuring competition, food, drinks and music.

The Sanford Sports Complex Summer Games debuts Aug. 4 in the areas around the Sanford Pentagon. There will be organized basketball, volleyball and bean-bag tournaments in addition to food trucks, inflatables, vendors and a live DJ.

Team registrations are open now. There’s no charge for spectators.

“We want the community to have an opportunity to wrap up the summer,” said Kevin Lampe, the executive vice president of Sanford Sports. “It’ll be a good time for people of all ages and interests.”

The Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G League are among the event sponsors.

Details for the tournaments:

  • 3-on-3 basketball tournament: There are divisions based on age and gender from Grade 4 to adult. Each team can have up to four players. The entry fee is $80 per team. Sign up here
  • Grass volleyball tournament: This will be 4-on-4 play. There are co-ed and women’s divisions with bracket based on age groups. The entry fee is $85 per team. Sign up here.
