SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The best high school basketball players in South Dakota will be honored during an awards ceremony and all-star game at the Sanford Pentagon in April.

The Sanford Pentagon/KELOLAND Media Group All-Star weekend is set for April 7-8. The All-Star Banquet is April 7 at 7 p.m. where the players of the year will be announced. Last year’s recipients were Myah Selland of Sanborn Central and Ethan Freidel of Tea Area. A featured speaker for the event will be named later.

Admission is free.

All-Star games are scheduled for April 8 and will feature the top seniors in girls and boys basketball as selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association. The girls play at 1 p.m., while the boys tip at 3 p.m.

“The Sanford Pentagon is proud to host this event that honors the best high school basketball players in the state and lets them showcase their skills,” said Jesse Smith, executive director of operations for the Pentagon. “We want to help them cap off their stellar careers with a fun and competitive event.”

KELOLAND TV will announce the player of the year nominees live on air March 26-April 6. The All-Star games will be broadcast live on MyUTV and streamed live on KELOLAND.com. Fans can participate in the events on social media using the hashtag #sdallstar.

“After the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural South Dakota All-Star event, KELOLAND Media Group is excited to once again work alongside the Sanford Pentagon as we honor the state’s top boys and girls basketball players, said Travis Fossing, KELOLAND TV Sports Director. “ The Awards Banquet and All-Star Games provide a platform to honor high school athletes from across South Dakota, and we’re eager to participate in this year’s All-Star events.”
