Eight more teams vying for spots in NAIA Sweet 16

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Day one of the NAIA DII Men's Basketball National Championship lasted into day two thanks to two overtime games and other closely contested contests. After more than 16 consecutive hours of basketball, half of the Sweet 16 is set.

Higher seeds prevailed throughout day one as top-seeded IU East (Ind.) and Cornerstone (Mich.) advanced to the second round on Friday.

Derek Hinen of St. Francis (Ind.) led all scorers on day one of the tournament with 32 points. Isaac Rowe of Oklahoma Wesleyan grabbed the most rebounds with 16. 

The first round continues Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m.
