BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Sanford Pentagon will remain the home of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Sanford Health Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments through 2019. The league’s athletic administrators approved the site during their annual summer meetings earlier this month.
The Pentagon has hosted the NSIC/Sanford Health Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments since 2014. Last year, the event drew more than 21,000 fans to the venue.
The NSIC/Sanford Health Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments are each 16-team brackets. First-round games are hosted by high seeds, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and championships are played on the Pentagon’s Heritage Court.
The Pentagon’s future schedule is doused with postseason NCAA Division II basketball .The facility will also host the Division II Women’s Basketball Championship in 2016 and 2018 and Division II Men’s Basketball Championship in 2017 and 2018.
The NSIC is a 16-team, 17-sport, Division II conference with teams located in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. The NSIC has won three Division II basketball national championships since 2006 and has sent men’s teams to the Elite 8 seven of the past nine years, while women’s squads have advanced three of the last four years.
