SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sanford Pentagon is becoming a destination for postseason college basketball.
The NCAA Division II Men’s Central Region tournament tips off Saturday and concludes Monday with eight teams vying for a berth in the Elite Eight. Of those contenders – Augustana, Minnesota State Moorhead, Minnesota State and Northern State – were a part of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament held two weeks ago in the same venue.
Augustana is serving as a regional host for the first time and is seeded No. 1 with a 30-2 mark. No. 2-seed Minnesota State Moorhead is having a historic season, too, with a school record 32 wins. Those teams met in the championship game of the NSIC tournament at Heritage Court – the retro-styled main stage in the Sanford Pentagon.
Meanwhile, No. 3-seed Central Missouri (24-6) is the defending national champion. Here’s the complete bracket.
The action begins at noon Saturday and the regional final is at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets for all seven games are on sale now at the Sanford Pentagon box office and on Ticketmaster.com.
