About the Vikings
Augustana enters the weekend sporting an 8-5 overall record and 6-5 in the NSIC South Division. The top four teams of each division qualify for the NSIC Tournament. A weekend sweep guarantees the Vikings a spot in the NSIC Tournament while a split would mean the Vikings need help elsewhere in the league to qualify for the tournament.
The Vikings are coming off a weekend sweep at Sioux Falls, winning 67-65 and 75-66 over Friday and Saturday, respectively. Senior Tyler Riemersma was tabbed the NSIC South Division Player of the Week after the weekend for his double-double average while shooting 71.4 percent from the field. Junior Dylan LeBrun was the Vikings' high scorer over the two games averaging 15.0 points per outing.
For the season, six Vikings are averaging double-digit points led by Michael Schaefer and his 13 points per outing. Riemersma tallies 12.5 points, LeBrun 12.4, Adam Dykman 12.2, Isaac Fink 12.1 and Matt Todd 10.7 points as part of a very balanced Viking attack. Augustana totals 82.7 points per game, a mark that ranks 22nd in the nation.
About the Wildcats
Wayne State enters the weekend as the NSIC leader in the South Division with a 9-3 NSIC South Division record and is 9-5 overall. Tabbed last in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Wildcats have exceeded all expectations in entering the final weekend as the division leader.
Jordan Janssen leads the team at 15.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He has been named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week on three occasions. He is joined in double-digit scoring by Nate Mohr who tallies 12.6 points per outing.
The Wildcats are coming off a weekend sweep of Southwest Minnesota State, topping the Mustangs 82-54 Friday night and 74-56 Saturday. Janssen recorded a pair of double-doubles with an average of 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds over the two games.

One Last Thing
The set of games between Augustana and Wayne State is one of three matchups this weekend between regionally-ranked foes. The initial rankings came out Wednesday and were listed in alphabetical order and "under consideration" for championship selection due to the disparity of games played. Augustana was listed along with MSU Moorhead, Northern State, Upper Iowa and Wayne State from the NSIC as part of the eight-team rankings where six are selected for the NCAA Tournament.
The other matchups are a pair of games between Northern State and MSU Moorhead while Northwest Missouri State faces Washburn on Saturday only.
