SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The best high school basketball players in South Dakota will be honored during an awards ceremony and all-star game at the Sanford Pentagon in April.
The SD All-Star awards ceremony is April 8 at 7 p.m. Boys and girls All-State honorees and players of the year will be announced. Former NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups will be the featured speaker. Billups, a five-time NBA all-star, played 17 seasons in the NBA and helped the Detroit Pistons win the 2004 NBA championship. He now serves as an NBA analyst for ESPN.
Admission is free.
All-star games are scheduled for April 9 and will feature the top seniors in girls and boys basketball as selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association. The girls play at 1 p.m., while the boys tip at 3 p.m. All players will get to keep their uniform. New this year will be a 3-point shooting contest.
“We are thrilled to have the best high school basketball players in the state showcase their skills at the Sanford Pentagon and receive the recognition they deserve for their hard work during their careers,” said Jesse Smith, executive director of operations for the Pentagon.
KELOLAND TV will announce the all-star game participants live on air March 27-April 7. The all-star games will be streamed live on KELOLAND.com. Fans can participate in the events on social media using the hashtag #sdallstar.
